Sierra de Guera

The Sierra de Guera national park lies between Huesca (where Riglos is) and Lleida (Terradets etc) and is a high plateau sluced by deep canyons. These provide the environment for the biggest pass time around here, which seems to be Canyoning, but also mega climbing venues such as Rodellar, Alquezar and Valledolid.

Alquezar is a spectacular mountain village perched on cliffs above a deep gorge. The climbing is awesome, but really hard! Arriving without a guidebook we correctly guessed the easiest route but got spat off the last move. A peek at a borrowed topi confirmed a 6c+ amidst a sea of 7s and 8s.

Rodellar is justifiably famous – a long, deep canyon with climbing on walls and caves along both sides. Again, much of this is really hard, but there’s one particularly photogenic sector Delfin ( meaning Dolphin) climbing either side of a natural arch.
